Shamash Tablet print

The Tablet of Shamash is a stone tablet recovered from the ancient Babylonian city of Sippar in southern Iraq in 1881; it is now a major piece in the British Museum's ancient Middle East collection. It is dated to the reign of King Nabu-apla-iddina ca. 888 – 855 BC.[1]

Limestone tablet: the scene sculptured in relief at the head of the tablet represents Nabu-aplu-iddina being led by the priest Nabu-nadin-shum and the goddess Aa into the presence of the Sun-god, who is seated within Ebabbara. Before the god is the solar disc, resting upon an altar which is supported by ropes held by attendant deities, whose bodies spring from the roof of the shrine. In the field above the Sun-god, and within the shrine, are a lunar disc, a solar disc and an eight-pointed star, the symbols of Sin, Shamash and Ishtar. The god wears a horned headdress and carries the ringed rod in his right hand. The shrine is represented as resting on the heavenly ocean. The engraved text contains a record of Nabu-apla-iddina's re-endowment of the Sun-Temple at Sippar. The inscription is engraved in six columns, three upon the obverse and three upon the reverse; and the upper part of the obverse is occupied by a scene sculptured in low relief; the edges of the tablet are bevelled.

Canvas prints are intended to reproduce the look of original oil or acrylic paintings on stretched canvas.

Hand-made paper is 100% prepared by me! It looks like it was taken from very old books or manuscripts.

Prints that are printed on canvas are cut straight. Hand-made paper usually have irregular shaped borders that can be little tattered. You can cut your print to desirable shape if you wish.

The canvas has more vivid colours and looks like an old paiting, the structure looks like there is a shining varnish layer on it. The hand-made paper has rougher structure and old-looking colour effect. The colours looks more antique what makes them very original.

PACKAGING

This item comes without frame.

Prints are packed flat a kraft-paper envelope with the cord passing around and further sealed with Setnakh wax seal, thus making each parcel look exquisite and gift-like. The envelop is then put into the stiff stayflat packing, which has a "do-not-bend" label.

TAKING CARE OF PRINTS

#1. The image on prints must not be exposed to direct sun light. The prins should not be under direct sun light for long time. This would prevent early decolorizing of image, to make the painting please your eyes for long time.

#2. Because canvas & paper print is a natural product, which can dry out or swell, depending on ambient air temperature and humidity, we highly recommend not placing the prints in a bathroom or close to a heat source.

#3. To withdraw dust from the surface of the image, please use a soft brush for dry cleaning, or a vacuum cleaner with a brush hose-tip may be used. Never use any liquids for cleaning!

Following those three simple rules would extend the life of your print for long years.
